Stella J. Nowakowski, 89, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at home. Born in Philadelphia, she was raised in Newark and moved to Cranford in 1961.
The funeral 8 AM Saturday from the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Ave. West in Cranford. Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 AM at St. Casimir’s Church, Newark. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Friends are invited to visit 2-4 and 7-9 PM Friday.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward J. Nowakowski, her granddaughter Kathy Condrack and her parents Jozef and Helena Taraska.
Surviving are, 2 daughters, Helen Paul and Jane Capuano and her husband James; 2 granddaughters, Amy Capuano and Kristine Joback (Mark); 4 great-grandchildren, Jamie and Jessica Condrack and Zachary and Benjamin Joback. She is the beloved aunt of Vicki Tavaska and Mary Ziomek and many other nieces and nephews and their families; and the grandmother-in-law of Joseph Condrack.
She was also predeceased by her sisters, Victoria Cushion, Bernice Cushion, Catherine Renko, Mary Hummel, and Anne Jarka; and her brothers, Walter, Frank, Stanley, and Joseph Tavaska as well as by her twin brother John Tavaska.
