Obituary for George M. Blaskewicz

George Matthew Blaskewicz, 68, of Roselle Park, NJ passed away on January 6, 2020 in Cleveland, OH.
He was born to the late John and Dorothy Blaskewicz in Jersey City, NJ on February 21, 1951. George was a man of service and faith. He served in the US Army as a Second Lieutenant before his employment at the NJ State Department of Corrections, where he retired with the rank of Chief. He later worked as a dispatcher and a court officer for the Borough of Roselle Park, Director of Juvenile Corrections and then Assistant Director of Corrections for Union County. George was also a devout member of the Assumption Parish in Roselle Park, where he served weekly as a eucharistic minister.
George will be missed most by his beloved wife, Cathy Morgan Blaskewicz, his three children Dr. Caitlin Blaskewicz, Mr. Matthew Blaskewicz and Mrs. Megan Jackson (Colin Jackson), as well as by his niece Dr. Brianne Bieger, who he loved like a daughter. He leaves behind his beloved sisters Mrs. Lorraine Dolan (late Thomas Dolan), Ms. Barbara Blake, Mrs. Nancy Stapleton (Thomas Stapleton), his brother, Mr. John Blaskewicz (Diane Blaskewicz) and many much-loved nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered for his humor, kindness, and grace by his friends and neighbors both in Roselle Park, NJ and Mentor-on-the-Lake, OH.
Services will be held from 3-8pm on Sunday January 12th at Dooley Funeral Home on 218 North Avenue West in Cranford, NJ. Mass will be held at 10am on Monday January 13th at Church of the Assumption on 113 Chiego Place in Roselle Park, NJ before his interment at Andover Cemetery in Andover, NJ.
