Obituary for Vivian Butler

Vivian Butler (nee Timmons), age 95, passed away peacefully, at home on August 22 with her loved ones by her side.

Vivian was born in New York City, but spent most of her life in Brooklyn, NY, where she worked for the New York Telephone Company and the Board of Elections. She spent her later years living in Cranford, NJ and Hampton Bays, NY.

She lived a very full life and was preceded in death by her late husbands Edward McNamara, Benjamin Stryzewski and Bernard Butler. She is survived by her daughter Frances Trillo (nee McNamara) and son-in-law Ernest; her son Edward McNamara and daughter-in-law Helen; her daughter Dawn Joyce (nee Stryzewski) and son-in-law Joseph. She was the proud Grandmother of Erin Wells (nee McNamara), Meredith Henderson (nee McNamara) and Joseph, Kellie and Timothy Joyce. Beloved Great-Grandmother of Claire and Jordan Henderson and Ryan and Carter Wells.

Vivian enjoyed gardening and bowling, but most of all spending time with her family. Vivian was known for her incredible generosity, her wonderful sense of humor and her beautiful blue eyes. She was indeed a beautiful woman inside and out and will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Visitation is on Monday, August 26 at Dooley Funeral Home in Cranford, NJ at 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Michael's Church in Cranford, NJ on Tuesday, August 27th at 9:30am, followed by internment at Calvary Cemetery in Queens, NY.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to East End Hospice, 481 Westhampton-Riverhead Road, P.O. Box 1048, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
